Case Study:
Barbican Foodhall & Waterside Cafe
A stunning restaurant re-design and attractive new bar ensures London's iconic Barbican Centre continues to push forward the boundaries of modernism in typically dramatic style. Undertaking the fit-out and project management, Revo Group Ltd worked closely with all parties on the adventurous re-invention of the arts centre's Food Hall and Waterside Café - an award winning project.
Revo had to deliver to a tight timescale and budget, working during carefully planned fixed shutdown periods to minimise disruption to the busy centre and the Barbican's residents. The result was to bring alive the brief to celebrate the brutalist architecture by exposing original concrete ceilings and linking space to a waterside terrace.
Further dazzling touches added by Revo are in the shape of unusual lighting, a stunning aquamarine blue resin floor and a range of vintage and bespoke furniture. Installation of a vast 14-metre cast black concrete bar through the glazing to dramatically connect the interior with the terrace demanded detailed planning and execution by Revo.
Bob Baker, Project Manager at the Barbican, said: "We knew what Revo was capable of from its previous work on our dressing rooms and stage door reception. For the Food Hall and Waterside Café, Revo adopted a highly flexible approach to transform our design vision into reality within strict budgetary constraints.
"Revo provided essential co-ordination throughout the project between the designers and Compass Group, which runs the facilities. The stunning result speaks for itself."
